The Digital Church Check-up is a weekend-long program that selects 10-15 churches to undergo a feedback process that will review their website, social media and digital discipleship presence. The purpose is to improve church’s digital presence and it’s discipleship opportunities in the digital space. Additionally, we aim to help the church identify opportunities to engage additional creatives and techies into the fabric of the church.
This goal aligns with the mission of the Digital Discipleship Ministry to create, inspire, encourage and resource disciples of Jesus Christ to share His love through their creativity and innovation in the digital space.
Applications are open until 1 June 2019. Click here to apply

It’s progressive and has been more relevant than anything else (besides Road To Bethlehem). It is bringing people together and collaborating with the younger generations of our church.

I have had personal testimonies of people seeing one of the videos and beginning conversation with a local Christian that they know. I think that is the way that Digital Discipleship needs to go forward.
It is the most vital space for evangelism because the screen has become the window through which outsiders view the church.
I am so grateful for the work that has been done in the digital sphere because it is where the people of today are. Christians are called to make disciples as the go on their life journey.
And if Digital Discipleship is not invested in, the 3 billion people on Facebook may not be reached by the church.

It connected me with people who have given me helpful advice with some of our digital technology decisions. I enjoyed the breadth of the conference. I also enjoyed the surprise/impromptu software developers workshop that popped-up at the last minute.
Since last year’s conference, I have appreciated the Slack-discussion-platform that was launched. While I have not had time to personally contribute much to the conversation, the conversations that others have been having have helped shaped my thinking.

As a technologist who has worked in large Global Christian Organisations I have seen the benefit of engaging the wider community through digital. It was clear to me that the Adventist Church was significantly lagging behind. Looking for ways to begin that change was difficult in a volunteer and limited capacity.
However, through the work of the Digital Discipleship Conferences and networks it is opening the door for the creatives, technologists and professionals to get involved in areas that we already see working outside of the church.
Practically, I have been part of an online forum that allows for the sharing and collaboration of ideas, projects and content, that would have otherwise sat in the silo of a local church. This group is not bound by geography, conference boundaries or the local church. It allows for isolated people to connect and be encouraged by others and feel part of that global community. I have been able to meet people, both online and at digital conferences that have shared passion and vision to share ideas and look at creating innovative ways to connect with people.
The passive, non-threatening nature of digital will enable wider reach then traditional tract and speaker-based evangelism, but we still are only beginning the digital journey. It is such a critical time, where we are already lagging the culture around us, but we must learn to speak in relevant and modern ways to the people who need the gospel most. We do that thorough levering all aspects of digital, including social networks, Big data analysis, and creative content.
